Using Zello on the XP3plus delivers on that promise through the touch of a button," said John Graff, Sonim chief marketing officer. not good)."Frontline workers need to stay connected to their teams at all times through simple, reliable communications. Maybe it could just be "in a call" when the other party is talking? Or if that causes a lag with the car audio, then maybe Zello could just be "in a call" while the Zello app is open/active/on-top on my phone?Īlso, it might be nice to pick your microphone like Bluey2 suggested because the Zello echo sounds totally different when I use my car's microphone (i.e. So maybe the first thing to do is to fix the bug that Zello is always in a call with my car audio when I have Zello set to use "Bluetooth". this means that Zello does use the "call stream" when Zello is set to use "Bluetooth", but unfortunately Zello is always "in a call" with my car audio and I can't listen to any music whatsoever. BUT the car audio is constantly in a Zello call even if there is no Zello conversation taking place (i.e. can't play FM or CD music whatsoever)

I would hate to lose this capability, so yes - if Zello is augmented to support the Call Stream, please try to make sure that at least the option to have this behaviour (inbuilt mic + Bluetooth for speaker) is retained. This gives me excellent microphone quality, and excellent speaker fidelity, because Zello does produce very good audio fidelity for Bluetooth speakers. When I do this, if the phone is paired with a Bluetooth device, and the Media stream is enabled (which is the default), Bluetooth will still be used for the speaker, even though Bluetooth is not selected in Zello.

So, the way I am able to use Bluetooth only for the speaker is to not select Bluetooth in the Zello app (I am using an Android phone - the Galaxy S5).

I contacted Zello Support directly about the Bluetooth microphone fidelity, and they explained that regardless of the capability of the Bluetooth device, Zello always uses "8kHz audio", which I presume means it always uses a sampling rate of 8kHz, which means an upper frequency of about 3.4kHz, which is telephone grade.

Just by the way, Zello's current behaviour actually has a benefitial side effect - it allows me to use the speakers of the car (via Bluetooth), but yet use the inbuilt microphone of my smartphone, which yields far superior audio fidelity to any Bluetooth device I have tried to date (including the car's inbuilt system).
